Art Camp Junior Counselor Interview - I was accepted!

I had a meeting yesterday to be a junior counselor at an art camp and I got the job!

I feel so happy that I actually can help kids be who they are and show them that I'm there for them whenever they need my help. The camp is an art camp where we will do different kinds of art: performing art, cooking, acrylic painting, watercolor, magic, cartooning and so much more.

I'm so excited to actually be working and helping young kids at the summer camp I used to go to as a young kid myself.

  1. Thank you so much for this blog. Today my 10 year old was diagnosed with GHD. Her test came back 0.09ml. She is so upset at the thought of taking GH for the next few years. I've been up all night doing research and I stumbled upon your blog. I read every single post. You are an amazing young lady and I cannot wait to share this blog with my daughter. The close relationship you've developed with your mother is inspiring and I too love my Kadence more than a bee loves a rose. <3 We will be starting our own journey soon, (next stop is the MRI) and thanks to you, I'm not so scared. Xo

  2. Oh my goodness, I am in tears reading your message. I am unbelievably humbled to see your comment on Samantha's blog. Samantha's first tests came back at .06/.01/.01/.02 before she started HGH. You are not alone! I hope Samantha and I can be a resource to you and your daughter. Samantha will be so inspired when I show her your comment. Please let us know how we can support you both; that is EXACTLY why Samantha started her blog - to help children and their families because nothing was on the Internet to help her and I maneuver through this process. Sending a big hug your way - you both CAN DO IT!

  4. Thank you so much! I finally sat down and read her lab results and they are .01/.01/.08/.09ng/mL
I noticed last year she was gaining weight and I figured a growth spurt would happen soon. The spurt never came. We watch her eating habits carefully but it still didn't stop her from gaining 17lbs in 6 months. She's approximately 46 inches tall and weighs 115lbs. She's in the 3rd% for height and 95% for weight. I originally requested a referal because I was concerned about her weight. (I'm only 5 feet tall so I figured she was just short) but her eating/playing habits didn't match up with all her weight gain. I was floored when her stim test came back so low. I've been reading everything I can on this issue, but as far as my daughter is concerned, this blog will help her tremendously. I know Samantha doesn't post as much as she did in the beginning, but what she has written in the past will be very valuable to a lot of kids in the future. I look forward to sharing this with her! Hopefully she is enthusiastic as Samantha! Bless you both. xo

  5. Samantha began treatment when she was about 51 inches. She didn't seem very short to me; my husband is 5'6" however I am 5'7". She was one of the shortest kids in her grade. What was most concerning was that she wasn't growing at the pace she should have from age 10-11. That's when her pediatrician recommended blood testing. It's critical for me that Samantha be comfortable in her own skin and not feel she should look like anyone other than herself. Being a 1) 12 year old girl 2) taking growth hormone therapy 3) during middle school is a tough combination. Samantha read your comment and was so inspired. She is now off for the summer which will make it easier for her to write about her experiences. She is committed to helping others with GHD as am I. Stay tuned - we will be trying some video blogs soon and posting photos of Samantha this weekend! Samantha has an email: seriouslysamanthag@gmail.com and I am sure she would love to hear from you both!
